Sage’s Hearth
Nestled in the heart of Crestone, Colorado, beneath the towering Sangre de Cristo Mountains and near the Great Sand Dunes National Park, Sage’s Hearth was created as a place where good food, meaningful conversation, and community come together. Inspired by the timeless tradition of gathering around a hearth, we strive to provide more than just a meal—we offer a welcoming space where locals and visitors alike can slow down, connect, and enjoy the simple pleasures of sharing food and company.
Our menu reflects a commitment to quality ingredients, thoughtful preparation, and genuine hospitality. From handcrafted appetizers and entrées to artisan cocktails, local beverages, and house-made desserts, we prepare our food with care and attention to detail. Whether you’re joining us for a casual dinner, a special celebration, a retreat, or simply a quiet evening by the fire, our goal is to create an experience that is both memorable and nourishing.
Sage’s Hearth is owned and operated by Mary Gaetjens and Paul Winans, who share a passion for hospitality, community building, and creating spaces that bring people together. Together they envisioned Sage’s Hearth as more than a restaurant—a gathering place where residents, travelers, students, retreat participants, artists, and adventurers can feel welcome. Their dedication can be found throughout the restaurant, from the warm atmosphere and carefully restored spaces to the personal attention given to guests each day.
The restaurant occupies one of the largest indoor public gathering spaces in the Crestone area, allowing it to serve not only as a dining destination but also as a venue for celebrations, educational events, retreats, workshops, community meetings, and special occasions. As the vision continues to grow, Sage’s Hearth aims to become an enduring part of the local community while providing visitors with an authentic taste of the San Luis Valley’s warmth and character.
At its core, Sage’s Hearth is built on a simple belief: that sharing food around a welcoming table has the power to nourish both body and spirit. Whether you’re visiting Crestone for the first time or returning as a friend, we invite you to pull up a chair, relax, and gather around the hearth.
